Clan News

  - September 15, 1998   - Practice tonight at 8pm PST (meet in IRC)
-2:53pm PST
I'd like to thank SUN for the great OGL game last night, they were great sports and a lot fun to play against.  We emerged victorious with a 8-3 score (cap limit with about 5min to go), and let me tell you, these guys are some serious grapple monkeys(that's a complement :D).  I was REALLY impressed with how well our defense held up against them, great work guys!

I have even MORE good new tonight!  We are getting www.99vc.com TODAY, I should have the site all transferred over by early evening (assuming everything goes as planed).  I could NOT have done this without the help from n0x and his friends over at www.clouds.net.   Clouds.net have helped us out in the past...the helped supply servers for ClanBash '98 a few months ago, their help is always GREATLY appreciated.

I entered the 99VC into the OGL Modem Ladder to help make sure everyone gets a lot of playing time.  Viper31 will be running all OGL Modem Ladder operations, he will setup the games/contact/ect.

I hope the next update is from 99vc.com :)

     First of all,
we have an OGL game tonight (Monday) at 9pm PST vs SUN.  If you want to play please REPLY to Sigma ASAP.  We need 8 players for tonight's game and its on a first come first serve basis.  The game will be played on clan99vc.smartlink.net.

We had a nice meeting last night. Thanks to everyone who showed up.  Don't ask me what was talked about since i was being "muted" by Viper and Nox and trying to get people to op me the whole time. =)  But it sounded like it was a farely constructive meeting.  We mainly talked about some of the things listed in today's news and about accepting new players, etc.  One important thing that we need to decide on (I am not sure if we settled this arguement in the meeting or not).   We need to decide which map is our preference: Q2CTF1 or Q2CTF2.  Well, I was going to talk about Sigma's opinion vs. the opinion of some other people, but that might not be a great idea since any clan has access to this page. =)  I guess we can talk about that at the next meeting.

Sigma is still working on the Strategy Guide.  I think he plans on it being completed late this afternoon or evening.  So make sure to check that out tonight (maybe even before the match).

We can expect to see www.99vc.com coming soon.  I believe Sigma and Slicker are planning on trying to fund the web hosting themselves.  So, make sure to thank them for that.

Well my 12:00 class is coming up so I better be going since I missed my 8:00am class for the 12 time this semester. Ahhhhhh. Cya'll tonight.  I can't wait to kick some SUN ass.

It's official, Jeffrey is now a 99VC'er!  Welcome!   Jeffrey was the final person on our recruiting list...we will not be getting any new members for quite some time (unless they are phenomenal players :P).

In other, news I recently got a E-mail form SUN saying that they will only have 4 players for tonight's game(with little hope of getting more)*sigh*.  ZiGSoft & Elektro are the only people playing for sure, TeddyLuv, and cocoapuff might be playing...we will have to wait and see.  I have Nox and Viper31 down as a backup.  We will be meeting in IRC 1/2hr before the game.

See you then

Sorry, Fury,
Here is what I think you wanted to know: The rays of the BFG inflict minor damage compared to the impact damage.  So, it is important to know how the impact damage works.  The BFG's impact damage works in a triangular configuration.  In order for the impact damage to be inflicted upon your enemy, the BFG ball and you must be within site of your enemy.  In other words, a straight line must be able to be drawn between the BFG ball and your enemy and between you and your enemy without any solid structures in those paths, thus forming a triangle.  The closer the BFG ball blast is to your enemy the more damage the impact will inflict.   I recommend in most cases firing the BFG at the ground (or wall sometimes) as soon as you see your opponent.  You will rarely ever want to fire the BFG right at your opponent, because he/she will most likely be out of sight by the time it hits a solid surface.  In that particular incident, I fired a 2x BFG which hit the bottom of the pool right next to you.  It would then be possible for me to inflict 150/200/200 damage in that scenario.  Sorry about the confusion.  I didn't realize you were asking those questions seriously.  Sorry for being an asshole in the chat too.   Thanks for changing the server settings and sorry once again.

Elektro is going to be helping me out a lot with the webpage, and keeping everyone informed with game/practice times.  More specify he will be doing a lot of the news updates, giving me some time to design a Rainbow 6 and a 99 Cent Productions website.  He will also be helping out w/ E-mails...again, giving me more time to work on other websites within the 99VC Network.

We have a OGL game this Friday at 9pm PST, the roster is more or less filled up, but send me a E-mail if your interested in playing.  We will be playing SUN and it looks like they will be tough.  I'm going to see if we can get one more practice in before the game(like Friday at 7pm PST?), but I (or Elektro) will send out Emails w/ the info later today.

I've made a demo from our first OGL game, when we played AG, there are a few little hiccups in some of the camera movements, but other than that it came out as planed.  The next demo that I make will be a highlight tape from some where in the neighborhood of 5-8 different demos(all OGL, so its gonna be awhile before I do this).

Themonk (the Quaker formerly known as HoStiLe) expressed interest in reopening the 99VC Quake1 CTF Division!  If your interested contact him and let him know.   From what I hear, he already has about 12-15 players lined up...looks like the VC will be rocking the Quake1 scene again!

That's about it...I'm tired, got to go to work tomorrow, and I've had a total of 3hrs sleep over the past 48hrs.

Later

ps-for those of you who have noticed the small difference in this news page...its not finished yet, it will be done tomorrow.

Storm is back!  After a few LONG hours away from quake2 and the 99VC, he couldn't take it anymore, and came back.  Here are a few little things that storm said in the Chat w/ Zaemeal and I:

<[STORM-SHADOW]> i can't ever leave!!
<[STORM-SHADOW]>
<[STORM-SHADOW]> OK put me back as active 99vc
{BREAK}
<[STORM-SHADOW]> OK I quit quiting the 99vc
{BREAK}
<[STORM-SHADOW]> I have 3 fucking computer and no one to play quake with!
<[STORM-SHADOW]> WTF

Sounds like storm needs some quake buddies in LA if you ask me.  Let this be a lesson to everyone, you CAN'T leave the 99VC.  99VC for life!!!  Even though storm is back, he will not be co-leading the 99VC with me.

We didn't have any OGL games this week, two clans forfeited to us this week...we are now ranked 68th (not bad considering we started at 97th, and that was two weeks ago).

That's about it

Shocking news...Storm-Shadow has left the 99VC.  We are all on good terms, there was no argument or anything like that, he just doesn't have the time that he used to.  Here is one of the messages that he sent me:

ok man!
this is what I want you to do! change your status to LEADER
and put me as a founder of the 99vc

U DA MA! I have no time anymore to play quake 2
I' am goning SOLO from here on out!! It took me a week to come to this!
But all thinks have to end. I had the 99vc for 3 years! it's your turn now BRO!

I had a few people suggest that we put up a page for storm...so I'm going to setup a "Storm-Shadow Shrine".  It will have everything from Graphics, to star wars animations, to some of storms famous sayings.

DeathZero, AKA ColdSun, has been removed from the 99VC(reason: private), this is NOT related to storm leaving.

Well, he got another new great player, pULV!  Welcome to the 99VC!  Also, a old school 99VC member...formerly known as HoStiLe, now Themonk has re-joined, welcome back!

I'm now looking for someone to help out running the clan, this would include, updating the news section of the webpage, taking care of the 99VC news E-mails, take care of the "sign ups" for clan games and take care of other miscellaneous things as they arise.  If you interested, just let me know...the sooner the better.  Just be aware that this will take quite a bit of time...sooo, if you have little free time...don't email me about it.

Other than that...not much is going on.  Practice tonight (Sunday) at 9pm PST, meet in IRC as usual.
...any questions?  Email me

On my way out the door, going to be out of town for the night, so I'm going to have to make this quick.  After what seems like forever, ZiGSoft has finaly decided to join the 99VC(good dicision:P).  We played KT last night, and they showed us a thing or two, it wasn't to pretty, but it was fun.  We will be meeting up w/ KT again in another month or so.

I entered the 99VC into a new Quake2 CTF Tourney, there is going to be LOTS of compotition, check out their page and read up on the rules.  The Tourney dosen't start until October 15th, giving us quite a bit of time to practice(I think i'll be a LPB then too...WOHOO!).  I'm also tweaking the site some more, doing a lot of little touchups that need to be done.

   I'm gonna be late...

Well, you win some, and you lose some.  We beat and lost to the clan DPS/T one match in our scrimmage that we had last night.  I must say though, we learned what we needed to work on really quick!  After the scrimmage, we talked in IRC, then headed to the VC server for some more practice.  I think that we can reach our full potential in about a month.  I'm not saying we will will be in the dumps over the next month, we have a LOT of great new players, we just need to work as a team again.

Speaking of new players, I would like to announce that TeddyLuv and cocoapuff have joined the 99VC!!!  Everyone be sure to welcome them aboard.  The 99VC are almost complete for the 98/99 season of Q2CTF!

...I know I'm forgetting a LOT of stuff...but I'm to tired to think of what it might be.  I'll finish this update later today

remember, we play KT tonight(scrim)...
