Happy Holidays 99VC(heh, and everyone for that matter)!!!

Well, its been kinda rough the past week or so as far as games, but a lot of fun in other aspects :)  We lost to h8 for ICR(I could go on & on about why we lost, but if I did it still wont change anything so I'll spare us all :P) and we had to forfeit to ES for ICR due to the fact we are all w/ our families/friends at this time of year.  Yes it sucks, but family come first and I'm sure we will meet them again sometime soon.

Slicker and I have spent the past few days staying w/ Storm-Shadow in Chico...boy there was a lot of quaking goin on!  We played DM, CTF(heh, 2v1) and "Sewer Rat"(a new game we kinda made).   We also played Starseige: Tribes and Half-Life.   Tribes is quickly becoming a fav, this game is a LOT of fun.  We were only playing 2vs1 but were having a blast, I REALLY think this is a game we should look into as a clan.

Now for the MIA section, Beacon, Coco, Elektro, Slicker, Storm, Zigsoft and I are all kinda AFT.  Coco & Zigsoft will be back Jan 17th(I think), Beacon will be back sometime next month, Elektro will be back this Sunday, Slicker will be back the 2nd, and I'll be back to Seattle on the 7th.  Oh, Storm isn't really AFK, just AFI(Away From the Internet :P), he is working on a ISDN setup.

Oh, gerrrr!!!!  I just lost about 45 emails that were unread from the days of Dec 19-24th :-/  If you sent me an Email w/in that period of time, PLEASE re-send it.

Well I'm at another friends house using his comp, he wants to go watch Blade DVD so I guess I gotta go.  Later all!!!

Are you a talented LPB?...look to join ranks w/ one of the hottest Q2CTF clans on the scene?  Well, your in luck!  We are looking for *3* LPB's.  Before you even ask to be reviewed know this:  You need to be more than a good player, you need to be a good person and willing to work/learn with a team.

If you want to apply send me the following:

  1. Any clan history(clan's you've been in, why you left, ect)
  2. What position do you want to play(Base D, Perimeter D, Offense)?
  3. Send a demo(you don't need to come in first in the demo...we want to see your 'playing style')
  4. Times you could practice/scrim w/ the 99VC

I know its a lot...but over the past few weeks we've been getting at LEAST 3-5 people a day asking to join.  By requiring the above info, hopefully that will deter some of the people who would normally end up wasting our time.

The 99VC came out victorious vs JuDgE for a OGL Open ladder game.  The combined scores from the two games were 14-2.  We played two games,  once on their server, and once on our server(20min each).  We also beat our buddy's the Nerd Core for a OGL Open game with a final score of 7-3 on the smelter.  It was a fun game, and we will prob scrim w/ them sometime soon.

I went ahead and added us to the new OGL DM League...I don't know how well we will do...but hey, its all good :)   So if you want to play you will need to sign yourself up(as an individual, then click "join team" the do 99VC).

We have *two* ICR games this week.  Both will be VERY tough...one vs h8, and one vs ES.  The ES game will be played this Friday...sometime around 8pm PST, and the h8 game will be played Thurs *fingers crossed*(I'll send out a ICQ/Email update as to the exact day for h8).

HPB's play JuDgE for the Modem ladder today defending their #8 spot.  If/when you see them online, wish them luck and congratulate them on their 113-3 cap record :)

     I wonder what I'm forgetting....oh well..there's always tomorrow :)

We just finished our OGL modem re-rematch against WIZ.  We beat them 13-0 to increase our cap record to 119-3.  Thank god that match is finally officially over.  Nox, Slicker, Jeff, and I played in the match.  As base d, I didn't see a quad guy all game.  Well, I take that back.  I think I saw Slicker with quad once.  We should all thank Slicker for the great quad control.  Of course the rest of our guys did great too.  I think Jeff only scored a mere 13 caps, and Nox was helping me out on base d.  GG WIZ.

Not much to say, but I was embarrassed that this news page hadn't been updated in 10 days.  So here is some stuff that I thought of.

I just arrived home in Dallas a couple of days ago.  I won't be online 24/7 as I usually am.  But I will try to work on some webpage work in the next couple of weeks.  The 99 Cent Movie Reviews page will be getting an HTML facelift soon.  Not to mention changes to the 99VC site.  I just finished the members template page with my info.  Go check it out!  I know I already collected info from a lot of you for the members page months ago, but there is some new stuff in the members area, so I think I will be sending out an e-mail soon asking everyone to send/re-send in some specific info for their particular page.

We have a re-rematch (as Nox so nicely put it) against Wiz in the OGL Modem ladder tomorrow, Saturday.  Considering the fact that it is a re-rematch, you all can probably expect a fairly interesting match.  Then the re-re-rematch will be held on Sunday most probably (j/k).

The ICR week 3 match should be coming up any day now against ES.   This will probably be our hardest match since Reactive back in the early fall.   Cya...

Quite a bit has been going on in 99VC land over the past week or so.  Lets see if I can get this all up to speed.  First off, Storm has moved back to Chico from LA and will be offline for another week or so.  He will lose his trusty cable modem, but he will have a T1 that he can play quake from.  Looks like he will be spending some time w/ the other 99VC HPBs.

Speaking of our HPBs, we beat NCC 6-2, improving our record to 9-1.  They are the first clan to score more than 1 cap against us...good job!  We will be playing NCC this Friday or Sat in a Open GoC game, it should be fun.

Elektro came and visited Slicker and I this past thanks giving holiday, it was a lot of fun.  The only bummer was that we were staying at our beach house...I mean, its nice and relaxing and all, but there is no TV and/or computers :-/  I thought Elektro would start having computer withdrawals after the first few days.  We were able to slip away a few times to cruz over to my friends house, where we got a little DM action goin on, but nothing major.

While we were out at the beach house, we came up w/ a new members page design, a few project ideas for $0.99 Productions and got to talk a lot of strategy.  It's always cool to exchange war stories after you have been playing together for awhile, but never have actually met...funny stuff.  We are looking to have a "99VC party" sometime in spring...I will need to know everyone's Spring breaks(those of you in college).  Most likely it would be at Lake Tahoe on the border of Call/Nevada.

As most of you know, I was having some MAJOR lag issues w/ my I-net connection, and it rendered Quake unplayable....BUT...its fixed!  I don't know what TCI/@home did(I'm not sure if THEY know what they did) but out of the blue, today at about 5pm it started to work great.   I'm SOOO happy :)  Now I will need to start to practice on YYZ a lot.

In ICR news, we will be playing QSA...most likely this Thurs around 7pm PST, but that was before I learned a few players wouldn't be able to make it at that time...so we will see.  They wont to play on their Dallas CTF server, but I'm not sure if we will.  I REALLY don't want to play there.

I'm working on the new 99VC Highlight tape (about time I start) and at this point in time, I'm just working on the audio.  If you haven't already sent me 'your song' for the demo, PLEASE do so.   I need a song that you chose to be played for your part in the demo.  The demo will use maps Q2CTF1 and Q2CTF3, if you have any demos on these maps, send them in!

I know I'm forgettin some stuff, but oh well, there is always tomorrow!!
