Ok, we are all back from K9CON and BANG, so
hopefully everything should be back to normal soon. We earned a
forfeit over Red Leprechauns for the OGL ladder. Then we
challenged ES for a spot in the top 10. We will be playing them
this Friday or Saturday. Take a look at the maps they offered
us. I guess we should take that as a compliment. =)
Someone please explain to me how Cacophony even got added to the OGL
map list. About as stupid and unfair as Lost Outpost was.
=) Well we get to pick color anyway so I guess I shouldn't be
complaining, but even if we do get the upper hand I still don't like
playing an uneven map. The map is actually more balanced than I
am making it out to be. Because, the ground of the blue base is
harder to defend but the flag is in the corner and the red base's
ground is easier to defend but the flag is out of the corner.
So, I guess it isn't as bad as I am making it out to sound. Oh
well, I just don't think unsymmetrical maps are good for organized
competition.
I am sorry if we have seemed to be kind of inactive
recently. The two lan parties have kind of made 80% of us afk
for a while. Then we waited a week for the Red Leprechaun match
which never happened and then ES waited as long as possible for the
current OGL challenge and match. So, we haven't been very active
with OGL matches recently. Plus, I have been busy with my Alba
site and Sigma had been out of town up til a couple of days ago.
Ok, on to my personal news. I will be
leaving Pepperdine in 2 weeks. That means no T1
connection. So, that will probably put a dent in our OGL
performance (not that we were doing all that great recently
anyway). I hope that 4-5 others can step up while I am gone and
practice some teamwork to make up for me and whoever else is
leaving. I will be on 56k in Dallas. I will be looking
into SDSL/ADSL in Dallas. So at the soonest I might have it in
early May. But it is 80$/month for 386/386 plus installation
fees, so I might run into some resistance from my family. Even
if I do have a connection to support Quake2/Quake3 I probably won't
play much anyway, because my car is in Dallas and I tend to go out
more and not "live" on the computer like here in Pepperdine.
Not to mention the fact that it is hard to concentrate in games when
my family is running around the house yelling at me for things to
do. I will not be coming back to Pepperdine. I haven't
made a decision yet as to what I will do. During the Summer I
will probably work somewhere and start on getting a MSCE+internet
certification. If I am lucky my parents might just let me do
that and not have to work, so I can spend some more time on here with
you guys. As I said, I still have no clue as to what I will be
doing after the Summer. Sigma and I have seriously considered me
going to the Art Institute of Seattle and living with him in his
apartment. That would be my first choice of things to do but
there are several things that are going to hold me back. First
of all, my parents probably aren't going to support me moving away
from Dallas again after I fucked up Pepperdine. Second of all, I
got to decide whether I want to go to Seattle with Sigma for my own
academic reasons or whether I am just doing it because it would be fun
and Sigma and I would have a blast with all the computer shit we could
do together. If the latter is weighing more heavily on why I
want to go then I probably shouldn't, because it may end in another
"Pepperdine-like" experience. But then again, I may be
happier living with one of my best friends (Sigma) and the happiness
might bleed over into my productivity in school-work. So maybe
it is a good thing. Who knows but I guess I will decide sometime
during the summer. Since Sigma is taking this quarter which
started right now at AIS that would mean I guess we would go over to Seattle
in September-October (the beginning of the fall quarter). This
is if Sigma still wants me. =)
Omg, hmmm this probably should have gone into
a clan e-mail instead of in the news section I suppose, but oh well.-
